Linda Lovelace’s most popular appearance was in this film. This was one of the first mainstream porn films ever created in the United States. This film became influential to other films in the industry for years to come. She plays a sexually frustrated woman who asks her friend Helen (portrayed by co-star Dolly Sharp) for advice. Linda goes home and tries out her advice with no luck. Helen suggests that Linda make an appointment with psychiatrist Dr. Young (portrayed by co-star Harry Reems). During their appointment, he figures out that her clitoris is in her throat and goes about teaching her oral sex skills. Later in the film, Linda asks Harry to marry her. He declines but tells her she could be his assistant and help him by using her newfound skill while deepthroating other men until she finds someone to marry her. Given all the controversy, the film was put forth in court many times because of its allegedly obscene nature. Many places banned the viewing of this film. Needless to say, the film has been loved and hated by viewers for decades. In part due to that controversy, this film remains one of the most profitable porn films of all time.
